3D file converter & viewer

Open an STL, OBJ, PLY or GLB model, spin it around, and convert it to another 3D format.

Reads .stl, .obj, .ply, .glb and .gltf up to 80 MB.
Runs on your device - nothing is uploaded.
HOW IT WORKS
1

Drop a 3D file

STL, OBJ, PLY, GLB or glTF up to 80 MB. It is parsed in this tab - your model is never uploaded.

2

Inspect it

Orbit, zoom and pan around the model. The panel shows real vertex and triangle counts and its dimensions in source units.

3

Convert or capture

Export to STL, OBJ, PLY or GLB, or save a PNG snapshot of the current view for a quote, listing or message.

Which format should you pick?

STL is what 3D-printing slicers (Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio) expect - geometry only, no color. OBJ is the old universal exchange format that almost every 3D app opens. PLY keeps per-vertex color, useful from 3D scanners. GLB is the modern web format - compact, and it can carry materials and textures. When in doubt for printing, choose STL.

What it will not do

  • Carry color or textures into STL - STL stores bare geometry, so converting to STL always loses color.
  • Open CAD formats like STEP, IGES or Fusion/SolidWorks files. Those need real CAD kernels, not a mesh viewer.
  • Repair broken models. If a mesh has holes or flipped normals, this tool shows and converts it as-is - it is not a mesh-repair tool.
  • Unpack Draco-compressed glTF files or multi-gigabyte scans. The limit is 80 MB.
  • Certify a model as printable. A slicer is still the final check for printability.

Questions

Will my STL keep its size and scale?+
The geometry is converted exactly as loaded. STL files have no units, so if your slicer asks, choose the same unit the model was designed in (usually millimetres).
Why did my colored model come out grey?+
STL has no color support - anything converted to STL becomes plain geometry. Convert to PLY or GLB if you need color to survive.
Can I use the converted STL for 3D printing?+
That is the main use case: view an OBJ or PLY here, convert to STL, then open the STL in your slicer. The slicer remains the final check for printability.
Is my model uploaded?+
No. Parsing, viewing and converting all run in your browser with the three.js library (MIT license). The file stays on your device.
Why is my GLB not opening?+
Some GLB files are compressed with Draco or use extensions this lightweight viewer does not include. If yours fails, tell us and we will look at adding support.
