HOW IT WORKS
1

Drop the mp4 video

Drag the MP4 file in. Your browser reads it locally - its contents stay on your device.

2

Pick WAV

The audio track is extracted and encoded as WAV right here.

3

Download the audio

Your WAV saves to your device, ready for any player.

Why convert here, not there

No upload, ever

The mp4 never touches a server; its soundtrack becomes a wav inside this tab.

Local conversion

There is no file-upload step. Click Convert to extract audio after the converter engine has loaded.

No account, no daily cap

No per-day limit, no account, no watermark on your wav.

The two formats, briefly

MP4MP4 is a container. This converter writes H.264 video and AAC audio when an audio track is present; target-player support still needs checking.
WAVWAV is a container commonly used for PCM audio. This converter writes 16-bit PCM; the source sample rate and channels are not deliberately changed.

When you need this

  • Extract the soundtrack from a MP4 video for an audio-only workflow that accepts WAV. This does not keep the picture. A video with no audio track cannot produce meaningful audio.

Good to know

  • WAV output here is 16-bit PCM. There is no bitrate choice; converting a higher-bit-depth source can reduce precision.
  • First use downloads the audio/video engine (about 30 MB). The input cap is 2 GB, but available browser memory can run out below that.

MP4 to WAV, answered

Why convert MP4 to WAV?+
Extract the soundtrack from a MP4 video for an audio-only workflow that accepts WAV. This does not keep the picture. A video with no audio track cannot produce meaningful audio.
Which quality should I pick?+
WAV output here is 16-bit PCM. There is no bitrate choice; converting a higher-bit-depth source can reduce precision.
Does converting MP4 to WAV lose quality?+
The export uses 16-bit PCM. It cannot recover detail already lost in a compressed source, and a higher-bit-depth source is reduced to 16-bit. Keep the original if precision matters.
Is there a file size limit?+
The hard cap is 2 GB per file. The practical limit is your device: conversion runs in its memory, so very large files can fail on phones with little free RAM. There is no server-side cap because nothing is uploaded.
Does my file get uploaded anywhere?+
Never. Your mp4 file stays inside this tab; the wav is produced by code on your device. Its contents never leave your device.
