HOW IT WORKS
1
Pick what to solve
Even shaping for a row or round, or gauge math from your swatch. Nothing leaves this tab.
2
Enter your numbers
Current and target stitches for shaping; swatch counts and project size for gauge.
3
Follow the pattern line
You get a written repeat like "(4 sc, inc) 10 times" plus the final stitch count to check against.
Questions
Does this work for knitting too?+
The math is the same - read "sc" as "k" (knit) and "dec" as k2tog. The spacing of the increases and decreases is identical.
Why two different repeat lengths?+
When the stitches do not divide evenly, the calculator mixes two group sizes so the increases stay spread out instead of bunching at one end. Alternate the two groups around the row for the neatest result.
What if I increase in the round?+
Use the same repeat and place a marker at the start of the round. The groups tile the round evenly either way.
How do I measure the swatch?+
Count stitches across 10 cm (4 in) in the middle of the swatch, not at the edges, and rows over 10 cm vertically. Wash and block the swatch the way you will treat the finished piece.
