HOW IT WORKS
1

Drop the avif image

Drag your AVIF in or click to browse. It is decoded on your device, not uploaded.

2

Convert to WEBP

The image is re-encoded as WEBP in this tab, at full resolution.

3

Save it

The WEBP downloads back to your device immediately.

Why convert here, not there

No upload, ever

Your pictures stay on your machine. Only the format changes: avif in, webp out.

Local conversion

No upload, no server queue, no waiting room. Instant, every time.

No account, no daily cap

No caps and no watermarks - the webp is clean and yours.

The two formats, briefly

AVIFAVIF can contain image features such as transparency and high dynamic range. Browser decoding and a new raster export may not retain every source feature.
WEBPWebP supports lossy and lossless images, transparency and animation. This page exports one browser-decoded image, not an animation or metadata archive.

When you need this

  • Export AVIF as WebP for a website or app that accepts it. Size savings depend on the image and quality setting; compare the actual export rather than assuming it will be smaller.

Good to know

  • Higher quality usually retains more image detail at the cost of size. JPG and this WebP export use lossy encoding; output size is not guaranteed to be smaller.
  • Check the exported image at its actual size and compare its file size before submitting it. The original file is not modified.

AVIF to WEBP, answered

Why convert AVIF to WEBP?+
Export AVIF as WebP for a website or app that accepts it. Size savings depend on the image and quality setting; compare the actual export rather than assuming it will be smaller.
Which quality should I pick?+
Higher quality usually retains more image detail at the cost of size. JPG and this WebP export use lossy encoding; output size is not guaranteed to be smaller.
Does converting AVIF to WEBP lose quality?+
JPG and this WebP export use lossy compression. Transparent areas become white in JPG. Animation, metadata and editable vector paths are not preserved; keep the source if those matter.
Is there a file size limit?+
The hard cap is 2 GB per file. The practical limit is your device: conversion runs in its memory, so very large files can fail on phones with little free RAM. There is no server-side cap because nothing is uploaded.
Does my file get uploaded anywhere?+
No upload, full stop. Everything between dropping the file and downloading the webp happens in your browser.
